The Girls With Voices Experience
Whether our girls are learning to develop healthy relationships with their family or peers, sharing in round table discussions with one another or speaking in a professional setting, we will strive to ensure our girls’ success. GWV’s goal is to ensure a wonderful experience for our girls by incorporating the following program assurance:

Healthy Choices
It is important to educate youth about the value of healthy life choices and preventive actions. Our goal is to present our youth with the skills needed to be able to distinguish between healthy choices that result in positive outcomes and adverse actions that result in negative consequences.

PEERsuasion
PEERsuasion builds girls’ skills for resisting pressure to use harmful substances such as alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. This program also focuses on the unique stresses which may attribute to the abuse of substances for weight loss as well.

Beyond Bullying
Aggression, fearfulness, violence, and cyberbullying have become an all too common experience for girls as they try to navigate difficult social situations. Through communication skills, peer supports, and identifying negative behaviors early, girls are able to better manage situations where they see or are the focus of bullying.

Media Savvy
With our society facing media messages constantly through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Television. It is important for girls to learn the difference between positive and negative media communication and think critically about what they see on social media and television. This awareness minimizes the negative impact on girls and increases knowledge in media literacy safety.

Grrrl Power!
Teaches girls how to navigate beyond barriers by focusing on empowerment, independence, confidence, strength, self-esteem, stress management, healthy relationships, health, hygiene, and pregnancy prevention.

Leadership and Community Engagement
Through participating in Leadership and Community engagement, girls are able to build leadership skills and create social change through community action projects. Girls also learn how to identify specific needs in the community and the importance of giving back and making a difference in their community.

Financial Literacy
By building on basic economic and financial concepts, GWV girls become familiar with the necessary financial education necessary to give teens the tools they need to strike out on their own-either in the workforce or college, buy homes, pay debt and save for retirement and other emergencies.

Career and College Readiness
Girls With Voices works with college volunteers to assist its girls with applying for scholarships, financial aid, and devising a college program agenda. It also prepares girls for the basics of student life on a college campus and balancing work and school.
